ICU/CPU needed. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and NIH.
Weekend requirements include every other weekend and as needed
based on unit demand. Travel nurses may be required to float to
other units within the scope of practice. Floating to different
campuses or within the hospital is expected, with a notification
typically given 1.5 hours prior to the shift start time. A shuttle
is provided if floating is required. Patient demographic includes
adults with a daily census of 16-20. The unit consists of 24 beds,
with interdisciplinary support from physical therapy, respiratory
services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response
teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary. Common patient
diagnoses include sepsis, acute kidney injury, respiratory failure,
STEMI, heart failure, stroke, surgical, and cardiogenic shock.
Special procedures in the unit include open heart, thoracotomy,
ECMO, and managing patients on various advanced equipment.
Essential skills include managing patients with multisystem organ
dysfunction, care of patients on ECMO, IV management,
cardiovascular monitoring, and ventilator management. All
certifications must be AHA and in hand at the time of submission. 5
